The Folk Stories & Folk Poems of Cyprus A Unique Presentation For Free by CYPRECO

from Elena Maroulleti

Perfectly suited for the entire family, this unique event offered for free will feature bilingual (Greek and English) stage readings of representative Cypriot folk stories and poems which survived over the centuries by word of mouth and which were collected and published for the first time in English translation by the late Lucy Maroulleti, author, translator, storyteller in her books, “Folk Stories My Grandmother Told Me” and “Cypriot Folk Poems 900-1900AD”. They depict unique aspects of the rural life of the Cypriots in older times about love, war heroes and true events. The event will also feature a mini-documentary dedicated to “Lucy” and a live musical performance with selected songs by great Greek composers such as M. Hadzidakis (Never on Sunday). An RSVP is preferred please email cypreco@earthlink.net or call 718-545-1151 (from nyeventcentral.com)
